Last Perfume Reviews

Hi guys, so yesterday and today I wore the last two perfumes in the Lush/Gorilla perfume sample box. I wore Lust a few days ago and then again yesterday because I liked it so much and I wanted to wear one that I knew I liked for the shindig we had yesterday for Memorial Day. It has a mysterious alluring type of smell to me. There's a bit of a sweet feminine scent mixed with that mystery scent. Today I wore Tuca Tuca. Bleh. I finally found one I didn't enjoy at all. It didn't smell too good in the bottle but I gave it a chance anyway and almost gagged. It reminds me of red bean paste which is weird because red bean paste tastes good! Maybe it doesn't smell good though...it also has a really musky scent mixed in. I tried to wipe it off without water because if you use water it will just make the smell stronger! I asked my mom to smell and she said it wasn't that bad, it just has a musty scent, (I think she meant musky). Now that the scent lightened up and it's been on for awhile it isn't as bad, it doesn't bother me anymore, but it definitely isn't a favorite.

So I think this little sampler box is a great investment. It's only $19.95 and comes with 8 little bottles. The bottles are small but they have plenty of perfume in them (2ml/.06 fl oz.), I think they'll last me forever because I only use a tiny tiny dab of perfume at a time. I think it's a huge turn off to be doused in perfume and make everyone near you gag, so I like to go easy with it. They also don't come with spray tops, but they are still easy to use.
I ordered them from favorite to least favorite:
1. Vanillary
2. Lust
3. Orange Blossom
4. The Smell Of Freedom
5. Breath Of God
6. Karma
7. Imogen Rose
8. Tuca Tuca
Here is a pic of the box, a pic of the top so you can see how it comes out of the bottle and one in my hand so you can tell the size.

I think the box was limited edition so I got mine before they were gone. If you can't pop in to a Lush shop to smell them yourself then this is a great way to go. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the review, I'm going to do some date night/going out tutorials soon so stay tuned. Bye guys!

Urban Decay palette reviews + perfume post

So first I'll do the next perfume post. The latest Gorilla perfume I tried was The Smell of Freedom. Freedom smells pretty good! I really liked this one, it was complex. It had a little bit of a warm scent like Vanillary but also had an underlying fresh type of scent, it's really hard to explain scents but basically I liked this one, probably one of my favorites so far. I have only two more to review and then I'll decided my favorites.

So in my last blog I mentioned I would do a review of two Urban Decay palettes. I'll start with the Naked palette. Here is what it looks like:

It comes with 12 beautiful colors all in neutral shades. The colors from left to right are: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half Baked, Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal. Virgin came out a little washed out in the pic, but it is a light, matte flesh tone. Actually it might have a tiny bit of a satiny finish to it, not quite matte.
If you don't know the whole story with this palette I'll explain it quickly. Basically it was HUGE when it came out, everyone wanted it and all the stores were selling out like crazy. Urban Decay couldn't make them fast enough to keep shelves stocked. So eventually, they decided that the reason they couldn't make them fast enough was that the double ended eyeliner pencil (it was half Zero-black and half Whiskey-brown) took too long to make. So they replaced the pencil with the brush you see in mine. They upped the price by a couple dollars because the brush is really good quality. And there you go. So at first I was like, eh, I kinda would rather have the eyeliners because even though I have two Zeros already and a small sized Whiskey, it goes with the palette and I already have brushes. Well I changed my mind when I tried out the brush. This is one awesome little brush guys. It is super silky yet it picks up an insane amount of color with minimal effort. It also came with a little baby tube of Primer Potion.
I think the reason this palette is so good to have is because all of the colors are work or school appropriate except for maybe the black, but if you're careful you still might be able to work that as an outer corner darkener. Yet, the colors are not boring, you can still punch it up for going out. Also, a lot of palettes have at least a few colors that are extremely similar and that always seems like a waste, but none of these colors are too alike. There are also a good mix of mattes, satins, shimmers and sparkles. They are also nicely pigmented.
So it's great for the younger crowd who are just getting into makeup and want to keep it neutral, yet its also great for the more mature crowd who want something natural enough for the office or who want eye makeup that won't make them look like a sparkle monster or too colorful. It's also good for anyone wanting to expand their collection. I have lots of neutrals, (too many, I admit it) yet this is still appealing because its slim, (good for travel) and all the colors go together so if I'm in a hurry I can just put together a really nice look very quickly.
So if you are wondering how to use this palette here are some ideas. If you are just starting out, try just wearing a single color on your lids and seeing which ones you like. I would recommend always wearing a primer on your lids because it will make the colors show up better and it will also keep the color on your lids all day without creasing or wearing off. I used to never like to wear browns or neutrals because my lids were a tiny bit dark and it seemed like I couldn't get enough color on there and then it would just fall off anyway. When I started using primer, this problem went away, the color came out true to how it was supposed to be and lasted until I took it off at night. Use Virgin or Sin under your brows as a highlight. Try Half Baked on the inner half of your lids and Toasted on the outer half with Darkhorse as a crease color. Or try Toasted on the lids with Hustle as a crease color. To keep it neutral line your upper lids with a brown eyeliner. For more drama line your upper lid with a black liquid liner and your waterline with a black pencil. One last thing, since your eyes are neutral you can afford to go a little bolder with your lips if you feel like it! There are tons of possibilities which is why I like this palette so much.

The next palette I want to review is the Urban Decay Roller Girl palette. This is so cute!

This palette comes with three neutral shades of eyeshadow plus a shocking pink/magenta and an eyeliner in Whiskey (brown) it's not quite full size but also not quite mini like the ones in the Jackpot box. I guess they call it travel size. It also comes with a mini lip gloss. The colors are left to right, Woodstock, Verve, Suspect and Darkhorse. I think this palette is adorable and versatile. You can wear the neutrals alone or really get fun by adding a touch of the bright pink. The lip gloss looks extremely bright but it goes on lighter than it looks in the tube. It is also a cooling/plumping gloss. To be honest, I just tried it today because I was afraid of the plumping part. My lips are sort of big anyway and I didn't want to look like a freak. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that all it did was smooth my lips out, filling out all those little lines that I get sometimes and hate, especially when my gloss or lipstick isn't moisturizing enough and makes my lips look dry. So here is the look I came up with for this one.

In the first one, if you ignore the fact that my face looks really weird, you can see that I used Suspect on the lids, Darkhorse in the crease, being careful to blend it out well and also leaving the outer crease alone, and then put some Woodstock in the outer corner and used Verve as a highlight under my brows. In the second picture I added the gloss as well. I'm also wearing the eyeliner on the top and bottom lashlines and some mascara. (It's Bad Gal Lash from Benefit, I don't have any Urban Decay mascara yet). I love this look, I'm a fan of bright colors so it's perfect for me, but the neutrals work great for times when I need to play it down.

So there you have it, two awesome palettes from one of my favorite makeup brands. i hope you like it and I hope the pictures turn out well. Keep an eye out for the rest of my perfume reviews as well as more reviews, tutorials and other beauty randomness!

Friday/Monday's Perfume Post + cool news

Ok ok, I know, I suck. So on Friday I did try one of the perfumes but I went out so I didn't have time to review it. Saturday I wasn't feeling well so I didn't do anything and then on Sunday I told myself I needed to do another one and just completely forgot. And then I tested another one today. So here are your two missed reviews. On Friday I tried out Imogen Rose. It is the most expensive of the perfumes, by somewhat a lot so I expected it to be really amazing, but to be honest I didn't really like it. It is very floral, of course I expected it to be, but I expected it to be a fresh and rosy type of floral and it's not really, it's just your basic every-flowery-perfume-out-there kind of scent. It is also extremely strong, and just not really my type of scent. It's not horrible or anything, I could find occasions to wear it, when you need a common and sort of sophisticated scent, just not my favorite.

Today I wore Karma. This is sort of Lush's signature scent, they have other items that sell well and have the same scent. In the bottle it just has an overpowering alcohol scent, but once I put it on it calmed down nicely. It was more subtle than some of the other perfumes, and I think the scent matched me pretty well. I can't describe the scent very well, it's supposed to have some patchouli in it but I wasn't really getting that. It seems like a warm type of smell, not really spicy but not flowery either. It's hard to describe but I liked it, I just made sure to be extremely sparse when applying it. I literally barely touched the bottle to one spot on my neck because I didn't want it to be as strong as I was expecting from the bottle. I liked it but I just liked some of the others better.

Oh, so guess what guys, I finally fiiiiiiiinally got my hands on a Naked palette from Urban Decay! Me and my mom have been looking for these since like before Christmas I think. Every time we went to an Ulta or Sephora we would check to see if they had any in and they never did. Yesterday we were shopping in another town which has an Ulta that is a little bigger than the one in our town. We decided to pop in and just check, and lo and behold there were two pretty little palettes there just for us. My mom really was the one who wanted one, but I decided I might as well pick one up too while they were still there. Also, I picked up the new Rollergirl palette which is soo cute! I can't wait to review them, so I'll probably have the reviews up tomorrow!

Thursday's Perfume Post

As promised, here is the next Lush Gorilla perfume review. Today I used Vanillary. I thought it might be boring, but I actually really like this one. It has a really warm, simple and truly vanilla scent. It was the most mellow of the three I've tried so far and I think it will be the first empty bottle I'll have! Tomorrow I hope to have something else up in addition to the next review so check it out.

Lush Haul +Gorilla Perfumes!

Hey there beautiful, time for a Lush blog woot! I heart Lush products. If you don't know, they are a handmade cosmetics company based in Canada (I'm pretty sure) and they make lots of amazing bath products and stuff like that. Probably one of the biggest draws for the company is that most of the stuff they sell is vegan and they also use lots of fair trade ingredients and organic ingredients. I'm not vegan, but I appreciate the effort. So on to the haul.

The first 2 things are kind of boring. I got a shampoo tin to keep my Soak and Float shampoo bar in because though the thing works wonders, it makes my entire bathroom smell like a fireplace. The tin will contain the smell. Ok quick detour for the shampoo. So I was using regular crappy shampoo and my Macadamia Oil hair mask twice a week and regular crappy conditioner the rest of the time. I then purchased a Godiva solid shampoo bar from Lush. A shampoo bar is just what it sounds like, you swipe the bar over your hair a couple times, maybe 3 or 4 and it lathers super nice. The Godiva was looooove, it made my hair shiny, light and smooth and so soft and smelled super nice. Yeah but about two weeks later I broke out in a rash on the back of my neck and my scalp started itching really bad and my mom checked it and said I had tons of flakes. Gross. So I stopped using the shampoo but it didn't help. So I also stopped using my conditioner and the Redkin blow dry lotion which was making my hair like silk. It got better but not completely. So I decided to buy Soak N Float shampoo bar from Lush. The rash went away after 2 uses and the itching and flaking got tons better. So I used my lotion again and it came right back. Grr. Now I'm using the shampoo and it is keeping the itching at bay and the rash is almost gone. I don't know what it is from, the shampoo, the conditioner, the blow dry lotion, something I'm eating, stress from the last few weeks of school...who knows. One word of warning about the Soak and Float (I don't know if it's "N" or "and") it smells...bad. Most people say it is horrible but you know, I don't think its really super terrible. I wouldn't prefer my shampoo to smell exactly like a bonfire, but its not the worst. Plus I got the Jungle conditioner to go with it and it smells better, and the smell doesn't linger after the shower. AAaanyway, we will finish the haul.

Next I got a new Buffy body butter bar. I have one and it is almost gone so I got a brand new bar of goodness. I have to admit, the smell was a little bit of a turn off at first, it wasn't gross, but there was just something I didn't quite like. But it grew on me, I like it now, it has a lavender scent to it but its not florally or sweet. A word of caution, it is extremely exfoliating, and it kind of hurt the first time I used it, but I use a light hand and it is perfect for my itchy dry skin. Basically you smooth it on in the shower, rinse it off and when you get out you are perfectly moisturized. No slathering on lotion. Awesome.

Of course, I can't buy from Lush without getting at least one bath bomb. These are basically the bomb. I will resort to using outdated slang if I have to. I got the butterball because it is so popular and was pleasantly surprised to find it smelled amazing even in the package. Haven't used it yet. Review on all the bath bombs I've used is coming soon.

Next thing I got is kind of different. I got a deodorant called Aromorant. I don't want to use the deodorant from the store because it has aluminum in it, so I broke down and got a more natural one. Ok but guys, this is sort of embarrassing but I sweat a lot, and ONLY on my underarms. Even when I work out, I don't really sweat anywhere else. And I don't want to smell bad!  So I used like clinical strength deodorant, this was some serious stuff. But I noticed that if I forgot to put it on, it would be bad news. So I'm hoping that this natural stuff will help. Someone said to give it about two weeks before your body can detox all the bad stuff out and the natural stuff will start working and be efficient enough. So I'm giving it a try. It smells good, like lemon and a little sandalwood and it comes in a naked solid bar. You just rub it on your underarms and the warmth of your skin will melt a tiny bit off. Hm.

Next thing I got I'm so excited to try! More shower jelly! I love love my blue Woosh shower jelly that I got during my exciting in-store visit while I was on vacation for spring break. It smells great, it wakes you up and even my husband sneaks some sometimes so you know it doesn't smell girly at all. I just tear a little piece off, smoosh it into my shower pouf and it lathers up perfectly. But this time, I got some Sweetie Pie. It smells like grape soda and candy and it has SPARKLES in it! Ah! I guess my husband won't be sneaking any of this one.

So before I talk about the perfumes, I want to talk about my favorite little bonus thing Lush does. They always send me two little samples of stuff to try. I always get two slivers of the soaps. The best one I got was Honey I Washed the Kids (looooove it) and this time I got 17 Cherry Lane which smells sweet with some floral notes and I also got a little sample of Ocean Salt Scrub which I have been wanting to try. It is a salt exfoliator and it smells like the beach.

Ok on to the perfume. I got the box sampler which has a little vial of every kind of Gorilla perfume available. Since I don't have a store near me, I can't smell them and I was dying to know what they all smell like so I got the little sample box. I knew the samples were small but for some reason I was expecting the box to be a little bigger, I couldn't find it at first and thought they forgot to send it! It has 8 little vials of perfume in it and I'm going to review a new one every day. I'm not big on perfume, but I really like these so far. I just take the little top off and dab it on my neck, I don't even tip it to get the product out, just the little bit left on the end is what I use and it is enough.

So TUESDAY I tried Orange Blossom. It smells intense in the bottle but is a different story on the skin. One thing I learned about perfume is that it smells so different from the bottle once it warms up on your skin and I also know that it can smell different on different people. It really does smell like Orange Blossoms which is a scent I LOVE when it comes to real orange blossoms. It was sweet and floral and orange and great.

WEDNESDAY (today) I tried Breath Of God. It smells really cologne-like in the bottle. Once on, it lightens up a little and has a nice smell, I can't really describe it but I think it will be a favorite. I think this could work well for a man or woman, but what do I know about perfume?

I will review the rest, as they come!
LOTS more blogs coming soon!

Edit: I just realized that today is no longer Wed. but I haven't gone to bed yet so it is still Wed to me.

New Beauty Blog!

Hey! So I'm excited to start a beauty blog, I'm finally out of school for the summer so I'll have more time to post. I also have a personal blog which is private right now because I had to stop posting simply because I was so busy but I might open it back up again. If anyone wants to follow me I will be sure to follow you back! Expect this blog to contain reviews, hauls, tutorials, tips and more all about makeup, hair and other beauty products. I'll put pictures in the posts as well. This was originally supposed to be a supplement to my you tube channel which is also about beauty, but I'm not sure if I want to continue the videos or not. I'm much more comfortable writing, the blog community seems a lot nicer than you tube and it's easier for me to write a lot than to film a video. Also, it seems easier for other people to read a blog then spend the time watching a video. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do about it but for now stay tuned for some fun blogs!
